HEIC to JPG and PNG compression: a no-upload image workflow

Choose formats for compatibility, transparency and size, convert HEIC/HEIF, compress PNG and check the exported image and metadata.

Choose the format for the job

JPG is often suitable for photos shared with common websites and office software. PNG suits transparency, sharp text and further editing. For web delivery, compare WebP size and appearance where supported. Format conversion does not guarantee a smaller file.

Convert HEIC and HEIF

Open the image converter, drop files, check the thumbnails, choose JPG, PNG or WebP and download the results. The batch limit is 20 files, 20 MiB each and 100 MiB total. HEIC decoding is limited to 40 megapixels and 8192 pixels per side. Unsupported or corrupt files report individual errors; keep your originals.

Why can recompressed PNG become larger?

PNG does not have a JPEG-style quality slider. Photos contain many colors, and re-encoding can increase size. Smart PNG compares palette reduction, color precision and standard encoding; lossless mode preserves decoded pixels. With original protection enabled, unchanged same-format still images retain the original when re-encoding is larger, which can also retain its metadata.

Check before downloading

Zoom into text, hair and transparent edges, then compare actual byte counts. HEIC export includes only the primary still image, not Live Photo video, depth or original metadata. HDR and some encodings may not be reproduced fully. JPG fills transparent pixels with white.

Local processing does not automatically mean anonymous

Image content is processed in your browser rather than uploaded to the tools server; loading the website itself still uses the network. To inspect location, device data or generation prompts, use the photo privacy tool and verify its output. Compression alone is not a promise to remove metadata.
